Aku has a bachelor’s degree in music and spent several years as a private piano teacher for various music schools throughout San Diego. She made the switch to marriage and family therapy after taking an assessment of her skills and interest – deciding that she wanted a job in which she could be involved in making a deep impact in people’s lives.

In the field of marriage and family therapy, Aku has worked as a residential crisis counselor and, before joining Angels as a clinical case manager in January, she was a children’s therapist at Polinsky Children’s Center. Aku has a passion for working with children and families and cherishes the in-person time she gets with her Angels families.

In her free time Aku enjoys going for walks, drinking coffee, listening to jazz, spending time with friends, and playing the piano and the vibraphone.
